The volume present one of the most important art works produced in late fifteenth-century Spain: the group of twenty-six panels from the main altarpiece of the cathedral of Ciudad Rodrigo in Castile. This publication sheds light on the altarpiece and its context, and includes essays on the provenance of the altarpiece; Fernando Gallego (not. 1468-1507) and the Hispano-Flemish tradition in Spain; the infrared reflectography, pigment, and medium, analysis of the panels; and the role played by prints in the creation of the altarpiece.
