This book discusses and catalogues a selection of the finest French drawings from the collection of the National Gallery of Scotland. Ranging in date from the Renaissance to the end of the nineteenth century, it includes major examples by Claude Lorrain, Poussin, Ingres and Seurat as well as many other fascinating artists from this higly productive national school. Many of the works featured are acquisitions made over the past twenty-five years, a period which has seen a significant strenghtening of the Gallery’s collection of French drawings.
