On the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich, one of the most important and popular German painters, numerous publications appear, including some exhibition catalogues. The work present here offers an overview in which a newly discovered drawing and the Karlsruhe sketchbook auctioned on 30 November 2023 are first published in connection with the complete work. This results in a view of the entire work for the early work that could not yet exist. Since the painter’s oeuvre is manageable, all important oil paintings and many drawings of Friedrich can be illustrated and discussed. The author and publisher Dr. Michael Imhof attaches great importance to the print quality and generous illustration of the book, which includes all the important works.
